![]() ![]() The film does win points on it's creepy soundtrack though. No real thrills or suspense either unfortunately. Tomie is a horror manga by Junji Ito that predates the well-known Uzumaki and The Enigma of Amigara Fault, which follows the titular woman and how her. The acting is fine, but Miho Kanno who plays Tomie never really comes off as seductive and instead just seems creepy all the time. It also doesn't help that many of the scenes don't particularly flow well or make much sense adding to an even more confusing experience. First off, it seems like the director automatically assumes you are familiar with the characters and the manga and doesn't really explain what is going on until maybe thirty minutes in. This first film in the successful Tomie franchise is rather weak and confusing. Tomie is based on a manga series from the late 80's and what sounds like a great idea on paper just doesn't really translate well onto the big screen. The heartbroken man will generally kill her, but that is exactly what she wants. When she is done, she tosses them aside and moves onto another man. Tomie is a teenager who has the power to corrupt any man with her looks, she has complete control over any man and makes total use of her control. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Top of pageġ A century ago, the American pragmatist philosopher John Dewey published one of his major and most influential books with Democracy and Education. In so doing, we shall thus point out the moving and transactional character of a book still to be read, pragmatically. ![]() The relevance and the topicality of such a historical work appears to be all the more important as the beginning of the 21st century is marked by a rediscovery of Deweyan thought by the French audience, with the noticeable reprinting of Democracy and Education. Based on a comprehensive review of French literature concerning Dewey, it underlines two mains moments proposing divergent interpretations and uses of his ideas, with the decade following its original publication and, its translation into French. The main purpose of this paper is so to study the various ways according to which Dewey’s work has been read and used over the last century. ![]() Welcomed by a relative indifference on the part of French philosophers, the book only received attention from a few intellectuals, working in the field of educational sciences. Originally published in 1916, John Dewey’s seminal book Democracy and Education was not translated into French until 1975, thanks to the work accomplished by Gérard Deledalle. ![]() ![]() ![]() As a kid, I would never have thought that painting cars and parts was what I would end up doing for a living-much less, that I would grow to love it and be pretty damn good at it, if I did say so myself-but life was crazy that way. I was one of the few females I’d ever met who did auto body paint. He wasn’t the first person to ask me that kind of question. I’d almost lost my smile then, but I had managed not to.
